Tesco has received planning permission to develop a 134,333 ft² DC near Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Documents submitted to Vale of White Horse District Council in May revealed the supermarket’s  plans to develop a home delivery DC on a former Esso site in Milton Hill, near Abingdon, which will be used specifically for its online retail orders.

The site is expected to be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employ 750 staff for the equivalent of 500 full-time roles.

The development is also expected to consist of 12,480ft² of office space with 221 spaces for home delivery vans.

A Tesco spokesman said that it had been granted planning permission, but was unable to confirm when building work is likely to begin.
