A ballot for industrial action by drivers and warehouse staff at Kuehne + Nagel Drinks Logistics (KNDL) has been launched with “severe disruption” to deliveries likely if strike action goes ahead.
Some 970 Unite members at 27 of KNDL’s sites in England, Scotland and Wales were today (13 August) invited to vote for industrial action, including the possibility of strike action, in a ballot that closes on Wednesday 28 August.
Unite claimed that management at KNDL has “rode roughshod” over the national agreement on pay and conditions and has started imposing changes to working conditions “without meaningful consultation”.
Unite’s national officer for the food and drink sector, Rhys McCarthy, said: “We call on the management to enter into constructive talks with Unite immediately to restore good industrial relations by adhering to the national agreement that they signed up to.”
A spokeswoman for KNDL said the operator is “fully committed” to ongoing dialogue with the union and plans to meet with Unite on 29 August.
