Maritime Transport has reported an 11th consecutive year of revenue growth. For the year to 27 December 2012, the container operator’s turnover rose 8% to £130.7m from £121.3m in 2011. Pre-tax profit increased 18% to £2.5m from £2.1m the previous year. TNT Express saw a 13% drop in EMEA operating profit in the third quarter, despite a 3,2% turnover rise, due to “challenging trading conditions in Europe”. Langdons has taken on two more trailers from Gray & Adams to boost its urban delivery operations in cities in Scotland. The trailers are equipped with Anteo tuck-under tail-lifts, Whiting roller shutter doors and the latest Thermo-King Spectrum fridge units to cope with urban deliveries. The tractor units can also operate on overnight trunk routes using standard length trailers, resulting in greater operational efficiency.
