Dairy Crest has expanded its relationship with Gist, incorporating cream and flavoured milk into its existing milk supply chain operations for a major retailer. Lloyd Fraser Holdings has said it is “broadly pleased” with its performance after reporting a rise in profit before tax of almost 60%.
Gist and long-term customer Marks & Spencer have signed a 12 year extension to their warehousing and distribution partnership, with the first year of the contract estimated to be worth circa £300m.
Gist blamed one-off pension costs and retailers’ squeezing of supply chain providers for a 23% fall in pre-tax profit last year, but it still saw turnover rise by 7.2%. For the year ended 31 December 2011 pre-tax profit fell to just under £18.8m, from £24.5m the previous year. However, turnover rose 7.2% year-on-year from £379m to £406m.
