Supermarket chain Morrisons has opened the UK’s 350th authorised testing facility (ATF) at its regional DC in Bridgwater, Somerset. Morrisons engineering manager Robert Ward said it would “enable DHL/Morrisons to reduce dead mileage, fuel usage and unproductive workshop hours” as well as providing “the opportunity to facilitate external third party MOT testing”. DHL Supply Chain has won a five-year contract with Warburtons to manage the bread-maker’s primary logistics supply chain. The deal will see DHL set up a control tower operation, based at Warburtons’ Bolton site, which will manage the distribution of up to two million loaves of bread, rolls and crumpets daily between the manufacturer’s 12 bakeries and 13 depots across the UK.
