Leicester-based Pall-Ex member Premier Logistics has opened its first southern hub, as part of its stated plan to double its operation in size in the coming twelve months. The company has secured the St Albans site of Bill Chippington Haulage, which ceased trading last month. Pall-Ex is well placed to deal with any short-term consequences from Brexit but believes any reduction in the availability of EU labour could hurt the UK’s transport industry.
An expected decision by the Health and Safety Executive to not limit the weight of tail-lift pallet deliveries has been met with anger by pallet networks, with Pall-Ex group MD Kevin Buchanan describing the result as the “biggest fudge under the sun”.
