While TDG may not have invented the term 4PL, it was certainly one of the leaders in making the concept work for its customer Corus Steel back in 2006. Since then TDG has been acquired by Norbert Dentressangle (ND) and Corus taken over by Tata Steel, and 4PL has been renamed KeyPL, but the business has gone from strength to strength, as Paul Hayes, director of KeyPL Transport at ND, explains to Steve Hobson

Liverpool looks to regain status as northern logistics hub

Next summer an expected 250,000 international business people will converge on Liverpool for the International Festival for Business, a two-month showcase for UK plc. As part of the Festival, Mersey Maritime is holding a Maritime, Logistics & Energy Week, which will highlight the growing importance of Liverpool as a northern logistics hub and gateway to the UK and Europe for north Atlantic trade.


Heatwave leads to volume boom at DHL

The recent heatwave has seen massive spikes in retail volumes for chilled and frozen goods, according to DHL Supply Chain. The UK’s largest logistics firm said the hot weather in July had seen demand for bottled water rise by 45% and soft drink volume increase by 35%.
