Union Unite has announced a fresh week-long strike at five Argos distribution centres in its latest protest over the retailer’s ongoing supply chain transformation programme.
Langdons has taken on two more trailers from Gray & Adams to boost its urban delivery operations in cities in Scotland. The trailers are equipped with Anteo tuck-under tail-lifts, Whiting roller shutter doors and the latest Thermo-King Spectrum fridge units to cope with urban deliveries. The tractor units can also operate on overnight trunk routes using standard length trailers, resulting in greater operational efficiency.
Acumen Logistics Group subsidiary Acumen Distribution has opened a new 50,000ft² warehouse in Halewood, Liverpool, on behalf of an automotive parts supplier. The warehouse, close to Junction 6 of the M62, incorporates just under 2,000 pallet positions and a bulk storage area. It will handle bulk inbound components and deliver parts on a sequenced, just-in-time basis to a nearby car seat manufacturing plant.
