Abbey liver birds

Abbey Logistics Group will be distributing well-known drinks brands such as Lambrini, Crabbies and Tsingtao beer in the UK after a contract win with Halewood International, which owns and manufactures these and other brands.

Abbey will invest over £1m in 10 new Daf trucks and 20 SDC curtain-sided trailers to serve the long-term contract. They will operate from the Halewood International site in Huyton, Merseyside, supported by Abbey's national fleet.

MD Steve Granite called the contract win “a significant step forward for our palletised division”.

Abbey now operates 62 vehicles and 102 trailers in its palletised division. The firm's overall fleet amounts to 235 trucks and 300 trailers operating from 11 UK bases.  Sales at Abbey have grown to £27.6m in the year ending 30 June 2012, from £19m in the year ending 30 June 2009, due to its diversification strategy.
