Heywood, Lancashire based logistics service provider Yearsley Group has taken delivery of two urban semi-trailers for controlled temperature operations that it says will help ease deliveries into urban environments and reduce its carbon footprint. Members of the FTA’s Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) are on track to meet their target of an 8% reduction in the carbon intensity of their operations between 2011 and 2015, an FTA conference, Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs, heard last week (21 May).
Tyre maker Bridgestone has become the first commercial organisation to financially back the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS). The partnership agreement will enable the FTA, which manages the scheme, to develop a series of annual low carbon awards and a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the business benefits for operators who join the scheme.
