Whitchurch, Shropshire-based food logistics specialist Grocontinental has reported a near 29% increase in pre-tax profit for the year ended 31 October 2012 . Profit increased from £2.08m to £2.68m, which came on a rise in turnover of almost 9% to just over £28.3m (2011: £26m). A combination of improved productivity and reconfigured warehousing space helped Fowler Welch improve its profit margin in the six months ending 30 September. Miniclipper Logistics has expanded its operations and vehicle fleet due to increased demand for warehousing from existing customers, as well as new business wins. The operator has taken on an 87,000ft² warehouse a mile from its main base in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, boosting its overall warehousing capacity to 200,000ft².
