Howard Tenens is increasing its number of depots as well as expanding existing ones since winning new business this year.
The Gloucestershire-based operator recently acquired the 240,000ft² warehouse located next to its site in Swindon, Wiltshire, which was originally built by the firm and sold on.
It bought the warehouse back in response to winning a number of new contracts, which increases the depot’s total storage capacity to more than 1 million ft².
Howard Tenens also plans to open two new depots in Tilbury, Essex and Crewe, Cheshire later this year, taking its total warehousing space to more than 3.5 million ft² across its network.
Dan Morris, MD of property, said: “Being able to successfully buy the site and make it a part of Howard Tenens again is fantastic, particularly taking into account our 30 year anniversary [since its MBO in 1983].”
The operator also hopes to increase the number of dual-fuel gas and diesel trucks in its fleet from 25 to 50 this year, and plans to develop a gas filling station at its Swindon depot.
