TNT Express has added two 15.65m longer semi-trailers to one of its trunking routes and plans to introduce more into its operation. The parcel carrier is currently running the trailers between its Kingsbury hub in Warwickshire and its Llantrisant depot in south Wales. Nightline is to invest €5m into the roll-out of its self-service parcel terminals across the UK, creating 50 jobs in the process. The Irish carrier says the funding will be used to set up the infrastructure for 400 Parcel Motel locker boxes that will all be operation by the end of 2014. Parcel carrier XDP Express is now offering customers its most specific delivery time information to date, after introducing new route planning software into its operation for the first time.
UPS and TNT Express have submitted remedies to the European Commission to address its competition concerns, extending the review period further. The submission extends the EC’s review period by 15 business days to 5 February 2013. The proposed remedies involve the sale of the business activities and its assets. UPS needs to ensure the long-term viability of these activities and the continuity of service already provided by TNT Express. In order to receive approval, the EC will market-test the remedies. […]
