Wincanton has won a five year contract with Rolls-Royce, which will see it store and transport generators for the UK armed forces.

The firm will store the generators, which are used to power medical and communications equipment,  at its shared user warehouse in Middleton, Greater Manchester. It will also pack the generators for global distribution.

The contract will also see the firm perform audited maintenance checks on the equipment upon its return to the warehouse, ahead of returning to storage ready for the next call out.

Wincanton MD Chris Kingshott said: “We are delighted to have won this contract with Rolls-Royce which comes on the back of us already securing recent contract renewals with major defence primes worth over £30 million.

"Rolls-Royce is an iconic global brand and winning such a prestigious new customer underlines our commitment to improving flexibility, increasing responsiveness and reducing risk, thereby adding overall value to our customers' operations."
