Stobart is still restructuring the former Innovate business it acquired out of administration in 2008 – a process that has been “more challenging, costly and further reaching than first planned”. BCA Marketplace, which owns WeBuyAnyCar.com, paid £16m in cash for Eddie Stobart’s automotive logistics business when it purchased it earlier this year.
Stobart Group has sold a 51% stake in its transport division to Douglasbay Capital (Dbay) – the former owners of TDG – for £280.8m. The move sees William Stobart become chief executive of the newly formed, and once again privately owned, Eddie Stobart Logistics.
