Royal Mail has said its Christmas deliveries will not be affected by industrial action, as it reaches an agreement with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) after weeks of talks.
Hermes has revealed that each of its ParcelShops handled an average 60 parcels a week in the run up to Christmas, as more than 60,000 parcels were moved through the network during the festive period. CitySprint is looking to recruit an additional 300 couriers ahead of its Christmas peak. In response to a 318.7% increase in parcel volumes last December, compared to the monthly average for the rest of the year, it is hoping to take on additional delivery staff to handle what it predicts will be an even larger peak.
