United Biscuits has taken delivery of 20 tri-axle longer semi-trailers from Cartwright. The own-account operator, known for brands such as KP Nuts, Jaffa Cakes and McVities, is running the 15.6m curtainsiders from its DC in Ashby de la Zouche, Leicestershire. The rear command-steer trailers are painted in six different liveries and have insulated load bearing curtains to protect their chocolate products. Sainsbury’s has revealed it is piloting a naturally refrigerated trailer to transport chilled and frozen goods.
The DfT has achieved its original target of getting 1,800 longer semi-trailers on the roads, albeit almost five years after the scheme was first launched.
