FMCG specialist Fowler Welch has ordered 130 MAN TGXs, in a deal that will see around one-third of its three year-old Volvo fleet replaced.

Included in the predominantly Euro-5 order are five Euro-6 tractors with the same specification. These will be run as part of a wider trial to assess comparative performance and cost-efficiencies.

Fowler Welch fleet manager Paul Allera says: “Ambient product producers are also looking for those same high levels of expertise and logistics efficiency we bring to chilled products, and ‘day one for day two’ is being requested more and more by this part of the market.

“With these new fleet replacements we can build on our high standards and tackle both new demands and new customers without any problem.”

The new trucks feature MAN EcoStyle telematics, which provide location and delivery information as well as driver and vehicle performance data.

Delivery of the MANs will begin on a phased basis later this year.

In June Fowler Welch revealed a jump in turnover and profit.
