The MT Top 100 largest operators in the UK run on an average margin of just 2.6%, and this comes after the industry became more profitable in 2012.
Stobart is still restructuring the former Innovate business it acquired out of administration in 2008 – a process that has been “more challenging, costly and further reaching than first planned”. The admission came as Stobart Group revealed profit rose 10% at its transport and distribution division (Eddie Stobart) to £14.2m in the first six months ended 31 August. Norbert Dentressangle has revealed two new members of its executive board, following the recent appointment of Hervé Montjotin as its new chief executive. Malcolm Wilson, formerly MD of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK, has been appointed MD of the group’s logistics division – a role previously handled by former CEO François Bertreau; while Luis Angel Gomez, previously MD of Spanish subsidiary Norbert Dentressangle Gerposa, becomes MD of the transport division – the job previously held by Montjotin.
