The Forum of Private Business (FPB) has called on the Scottish Parliament to introduce tax breaks for distribution firms as part of its Get Scotland Trading manifesto.

The trade association also wants the introduction of a small business fuel allowance, similar to the winter fuel allowance for older people.

FPB, chief executive Phil Orford, says: “We know high fuel costs are a major barrier to firms in the more remote parts of Scotland – the cost of distribution has been identified in our own research as a major disadvantage to firms here.”

The association also wants to see a reduction in business red-tape and more spending on infrastructure.

The latest push is part of its broader Get Britain Trading campaign.
