Westfield shopping centre access will be severely restricted this weekend as the athletics programme of London 2012 starts. Organisers are expecting more than 200,000 Olympic spectators and accredited workforce each day, which will make the Stratford area exceptionally busy. Operators can now access a street-by-street guide to the Olympic Torch Relay. The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games has revealed the detailed route the ”moving roadblock” will take as it travels across the UK. The Olympic Flame will complete a 70-day journey, and with a series of events planned around it, local road congestion is assured. For those planning ahead, Transport for London has also published the road restrictions relating to the Games road races in London.
London’s 109-mile Olympic Route Network (ORN) will commence operation on 25 July, two days ahead of the opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium. The ORN will ensure athletes, officials and dignitaries make it to events on time, and features 30 miles of exclusive Games Lanes to facilitate this.
