The offer period for the proposed merger of UPS and TNT Express has once again been extended. Following an exemption granted by The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), the period has been extended until one week after competition clearances have been obtained from regulators, the European Commission and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. UPS predicts that tomorrow (20 December) will be its busiest day of the year with an estimated 28 million packages delivered worldwide. The parcels giant expects to deliver over 12 million more packages on its busiest day than its daily worldwide average of 15.8 million parcels.
