Stobart Group saw turnover in its core transport and distribution division climb in the first half of its financial year despite “considerable demand volatility”, although profit was flat.
Van production at Vauxhall’s Luton and Ellesmere Port plants totalled more than 58,000 units in 2012, making the company the UK’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer for the 11th year running. Total production at Luton for Vivaro vans was 53,465, with manufacturing at Ellesmere Port contributing 5,373 Astravans to the 58,838 total. Stobart Group has sold its automotive after-sales division, Stobart Vehicle Services, to Paragon Group for an undisclosed sum. The division, which was part of Autologic prior to its purchase by Stobart in August 2012, provides car manufacturers and dealerships with services ranging from new car preparation to customisation. As part of the deal Paragon will take on former Autologic sites in Corby, Portbury, Doncaster and five manufacturer locations and said it would be “welcoming 500 new staff”. The division will […]
