BP disappointed over strike action

BP says it is “disappointed” that the Unite union’s tanker driver members have voted in favour of industrial action over safety, training and terms and conditions. Independent tyre retreader Bandvulc has come up with an intelligent solution to future tyre labelling worries by incorporating a QR code onto all of its new labels. TNT Post says it has secured a “great coup” after revealing details of a contract it began work on in February  to deliver mail for Tesco. As a result TNT Post, which demerged from parent TNT NV in May 2011, will deliver all of Tesco’s communications with its customers – totaling some 180 million item a year – including its Clubcard scheme and Tesco Bank. Culina Logistics has won a contract with cheese specialists Dairy Partners to store, pick and distribute its retail product range using its shared user model. The contract is managed from Culina’s Stafford depot and relies on its 10 depots across the UK and Ireland in order to maximise vehicle fill and supply chain efficiency. Increase in fuel duty is a disaster, says Hermes

Home delivery specialist Hermes has branded the Chancellor’s decision to implement a 3ppl rise in fuel duty as “a disaster for the haulage sector”. Hellmann targets Iberian growth

Hellmann UK  has launched a freight partnership with a Portuguese logistics company that increases the number of round trip road freight services to the country each week. Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles MD Ian Jones has retired with immediate effect. In a statement the Executive Board of Mercedes-Benz UK says it wants to offer Jones “best wishes for the future”. Under Jones’s reign the Sprinter won the Motor Transport Award for Fleet Van of the Year for four consecutive years. Yearsley to offer global logistics service

Yearsley Group has introduced a new global logistics and freight-forwarding service. The group says it can now offer customers a complete logistics operation from pick-up overseas (via partners) and import via air or sea, to delivery through its UK distribution network. The Department of the Environment has set the 1 July as the deadline that will bring those moving their own goods by road into the licensing fold.
