Wincanton has signed a contract renewal with WH Smith, which will see its relationship with the high street retailer reach two decades. Gist and long-term customer Marks & Spencer have signed a 12 year extension to their warehousing and distribution partnership, with the first year of the contract estimated to be worth circa £300m.
Next month we should expect to see full financial year results from Fowler-Welch parent company Dart Group. The only hint of the performance at Dart’s logistics arm came on 19 April when it said: “The business remains well placed for profitable growth.” Even the date in July of its full-year results remain as enigmatic as that statement… but there are some clues.
Cambridge-based Welch’s Transport has won a three year extension to its contract with Paperchase. The firm, which began working for the stationery, cards and gift-wrap manufacturer in 2007, makes collections from the Paperchase’s Thrapston, Northamptonshire DC and delivers to around 120 outlets. Welch’s sales and marketing manager Mike Bentham said the contract win demonstrated the firm’s “consistently high-quality service delivery”, adding that this had “helped beat off a number of eager rivals” for the new business.
