Exact Logistics joins German freight sharing firm

Rugby-based Exact Logistics has bought into CTL, a German freight sharing firm, that will see it increase volumes by an anticipated 80% over the next 12 months. The “five-figure” deal will enable Exact to deliver and collect from CTL’s 130 ‘partners’ between Germany and the UK and Ireland, as well as offer daily services between Germany and the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Malta, Hungary, Slovenia and Finland. Hargreaves to give subcontractors 3% rate rise

Specialist bulk and waste carrier Hargreaves Transport Services (HTS) is raising the rate it pays subcontracted drivers in an attempt to develop a more stable relationship with them. The 3% rise, to be applied from 1 December, will add £750,000 a year to HTS’s costs. But the County Durham-based operator believes the move will help create a more loyal and equitable relationship with its 450 regular subcontractors, 105 of whom work solely for HTS. Buoyant UK logistics market benefits Norbert Dentressangle

A “buoyant” UK logistics market helped Norbert Dentressangle (ND) boost overall third quarter 2012 revenue by 10% to €2.9bn. Turnover growth was reported across all three of ND’s business divisions, with much of this down to the acquisition of new business. Logistics revenue for Q3 2012 increased 6.4% compared to Q3 2011, with like-for-like income up 2%. Year-to-date, logistics division revenue is 13.7% ahead at €1.3bn (2011: €1.15bn). Norbert Dentressangle expand La Palette Rouge facilities

Norbert Dentressangle (ND) has moved the Warrington hub of its specialist fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) pallet pooling operation La Palette Rouge (LPR) to a new 50,000ft² facility, injecting £750,000 and doubling the workforce. ND is spending £600,000 on new equipment including pallet inverters, conveyors, spray booth and drying kiln, along with £150,000 to refurbish offices at the site near junction 20 of the M6 in Stretton. Turners (Soham) wins five year contract with Omya UK

After unveiling double-digit rises in turnover and profit, Turners (Soham) has continued on the upward curve by securing a new five-year contract with Omya UK, one of the country’s leading producers of calcium carbonate. The deal for the management and movement of fine powder products, includes a Turners’ team based at Omya’s site at Melton near Hull operating a specialised fleet of 30 trucks and 40 pressurised tankers.
