Drivers’ jobs have been safeguarded following the administration of wholesaler Conviviality after its drink supplier arm was sold to C&C Group.
It followed hot on the heels of the sale of Conviviality’s retail division, which includes Bargain Booze and Wine Rack, to Bestway.
Conviviality entered administration at the beginning of April, after mounting uncertainty about its future after it issued a string of profit warnings.
C&C Group bought Matthew Clark and Bibendum and their various trading subsidies, saving 2,000 jobs.
The purchaser said it intended to allow the businesses to operate independently.
In a statement C&C confirmed that “C&C’s acquisition of Matthew Clark and Bibendum included the Matthew Clark logistics network within which there are 210 trucks and 230 employed drivers.”
Bestway picked up Bargain Booze, Wine Rack, Select Convenience and WS Retail in a £7m deal which takes the total number of jobs protected to more than 4,000.
A spokesman for administrator PwC said the sales of both divisions included all fleet assets.
