Palletforce has launched a new shipping service to Asia with a member operator, in what the network said is its first step to establishing itself in China.

Working with member Allport Cargo Services, Palletforce members can now send freight to Asia via the network.

Chief executive Michael Conroy said that the new offering, Palletforce Asia Services, will give members "exclusive access to offer a new worldwide service to their customers by combining a global reach with local knowledge and expertise on the ground".

Conroy added that he was "particularly excited by the huge opportunities that China and the Far East offers for our sector, and Palletforce Asia Services will provide a gateway for our members to establish themselves in these growing markets".

Last year Conroy told MT Palletforce had plans to open a branch of the network in China, and hinted there would be a pilot in Shanghai in 2018.
