Kitchen manufacturer and supplier Howdens Joinery has been fined £1.2m after a visiting HGV driver was crushed whilst delivering into one of its sites in 2014. Ryder has secured a deal with kitchen supplier Howdens Joinery to replace its entire fleet with 100 new Daf CF tractor units.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is looking at ways to reduce maximum pallet weights to 750kg in order to cut the risk of injuries to drivers making tail lift deliveries.
An expected decision by the Health and Safety Executive to not limit the weight of tail-lift pallet deliveries has been met with anger by pallet networks, with Pall-Ex group MD Kevin Buchanan describing the result as the “biggest fudge under the sun”.
