Kitchen manufacturer and supplier Howdens Joinery has been fined £1.2m after a visiting HGV driver was crushed whilst delivering into one of its sites in 2014. Pallet networks have so far failed to heed a call by Palletline to join it in reducing maximum pallet weights on tail-lift deliveries – though a number of them say they are considering the issue.
A driver who died while making a delivery to Toyota’s factory in Burnaston last week worked for Goldstar Transport in Felixstowe, the motor manufacturer has confirmed.
Further tests to establish the safe maximum weight of a pallet for tail-lift deliveries have been carried out after the previous results from the HSE were found to be inaccurate.
