Pallet-Track marked a milestone this month after processing the 20 millionth pallet through its network since it first opened for business 13 years ago.
The pallet network, which recently opened a £10m hub in Greater Manchester, said it had recorded an increase in the volume of traffic through its UK locations and was averaging 13,000 pallets a night in its 267,000ft² Wolverhampton hub.
A spokesman said the increase in volumes was down to organic business growth among current members.
To maintain its success, the network has introduced more than 100 bespoke high-resolution cameras for its fleet of forklifts. The Raspberry Pi camera technology records driver activity for storage and monitoring.
Founder and MD Nigel Parkes, said: “We have been in business since 2004 and fiercely protect our unparalleled record of not losing a pallet in all of that time.”
“It is essential we invest in the right technology and equipment to continue to provide the excellent levels of service. They [the cameras] will complement our existing processes by becoming an extra set of eyes that provide an additional peace of mind,” he said.
Around 60% of the new forklifts will be located in the Wolverhampton hub, with the remainder of the fleet distributed between hubs in Welwyn Garden City, Wigan and Scotland.
The forklifts will be connected to bespoke software developed by Pallet-Track’s IT department and include cabin-controlled fork spreaders to enhance product security.
