Daf Trucks UK MD Ray Ashworth is to retire after 48 years in the UK truck industry. He will be succeeded by Robin Easton, MD of the India division of Daf parent Paccar. Hargreaves Logistics is to adopt a franchise programme to boost subcontractor retention and create a more flexible fleet.
Ryder Europe has purchased CV contract hire and fleet management specialist Euroway for an undisclosed sum. Euroway has a total fleet of 1,419 CVs, ranging from 3.5 tonners to tractor units, plus trailers. Daf is the dominant supplier to Euroway. In 2010, its combined divisions generated a combined turnover of about £22m and a pre-tax loss of circa £730,000.
