Suttons Group is spending more than £17m upgrading 200 units on its fleet to provide capacity for the recent growth in its UK bulk tanker business. In May last year, Suttons decided to exit its long-term logistics contract with British Sugar and focus on the hazardous chemicals, gases and fuels sectors. Dairy producer Arla Foods has unveiled a new dual-purpose trailer to help eliminate empty running. The combination unit, constructed by Gray & Adams and Crossland Tankers, features a 19,000 litre milk tank with a refrigerated area above that can accommodate 85 milk cages or 22 pallets. Tanker operators can cut the cost of expanding their fleet by up to 50% by using TIP Tankers to remount their own tanker fleet. Tanker remounting involves reusing stainless steel barrels and fitting these onto new chassis equipped with the latest running gear.
