Wincanton bags four-year Ikea deal

Wincanton has secured a four-year contract to provide support at two new DCs for furniture and homeware retailer Ikea.

Wincanton will lease and fit-out the DCs, which have a combined space of more than 500,000ft², in two locations north and south of the River Thames.

The operator said the deal will support Ikea’s future growth plans, including its e-commerce growth strategy.

Wincanton saw a 52% increase in pre-tax profit for the six months ended 30 September, due to improved performance from fleet services business Pullman and capital from the sale of its Records Management business.
