Wincanton drivers working for Argos have voted to accept a deal offered to them by the operator to prevent them from taking planned strike action.

Around 30 drivers at Argos’s NDC at Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, had planned to strike on 20 December for three days over an unresolved holiday pay dispute.

Unite said each of the drivers was owed around £700 by Wincanton for numerous years of holiday pay, but that the operator would not backdate pay beyond April 2016.

However Wincanton and Unite reached a deal earlier this week, which it recommended its members took.

95% of the drivers voted in favour of accepting the deal.
