Wincanton has sealed a five-year deal with Majestic Wine to set up a national fulfilment centre (NFC) at its shared user site in Greenford which will process 40% of the wine merchant’s online orders.

As part of the agreement, Wincanton will store, pick, pack and deliver over 4 million Majestic Wine goods each year, including fine wines, gift packs and seasonal items.

The deal is part of wider plans by Majestic Wine to transform the business into a multi-channel retailer. The partnership will give customers access to over 1,250 wines as well as click and collect, and named and next-day delivery services.

John Colley, Majestic Wine retail MD, said: “Customer service is our key focus at Majestic and the launch of the NFC will be an important part of our transformation plan. Wincanton's flexibility, expertise and knowledge of retailers and the e-commerce space has been vital in this process and the site will greatly improve our customer service online and in-store as a result."

Liam McElroy, Wincanton's retail and consumer MD, said: “Consumers increasingly expect more flexibility and choice from their retailers. At Wincanton, we have the expertise, systems and infrastructure that’s needed to help retailers of all sizes grow, fulfil multi-channel orders and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience.

“Through this partnership with Majestic, we’ve developed a joined up e-commerce fulfilment solution that will support them as they transform their business into a customer-focused multi-channel retailer."
