John Mitchell (Grangemouth) has reported a significant rise in profit after cost-control measures and a focus on its warehousing arm. For the year ending 31 March, the haulage and warehousing business recorded a turnover largely static compared with last year, at £13.2m. TNT Express has seen a drop in both turnover and operating profit, following the loss of a contract with a major fashion retailer in the UK.
Hargreaves Services has warned that its transport division’s operating profit may fall by £500,000 this year due a decline in the coal, steel and construction markets.
TNT Express saw a 13% drop in EMEA operating profit in the third quarter, despite a 3,2% turnover rise, due to “challenging trading conditions in Europe”.
