DHL has said it is too soon to know the impact that the collapse into administration of its client BHS will have on its operations.

DHL Supply Chain is responsible for the retailer’s logistics and e-fulfilment operations, understood to be a long-term relationship around two decades in length.

A spokesman for DHL said that “while discussions with the administrators are continuing, it would be premature to speculate on the long term impact of [Monday’s] announcement”.

BHS was placed in administration a year after Phillip Green sold it to Retail Acquisitions for £1.

Duff and Phelps has been appointed as administrator for BHS. A spokesman for the firm said it will be business as usual at BHS while the administrator looks for a buyer.

He said: “The directors have no alternative but to put the group into administration to protect it for all creditors.

"The group will continue to trade as usual whilst the Administrators seek to sell it as a going concern. Further announcements will be made as appropriate in due course."
