Royal Mail has said it is “very disappointed” that managers have voted to take strike action due to a pay dispute. A road transport lawyer has warned that a case that saw Stobart (Ireland) Driver Services, a division of Eddie Stobart Logistics, pay compensation to 21 drivers for alleged breaches to their weekly rest periods could have an effect on decisions made in the UK.
Rising parcel volume almost offset the fall in Royal Mail’s letters volume, a trading statement for the nine months ended 27 December 2015 said.
