Brian Yeardley Continental’s live event division is experiencing “explosive” growth since launching in July last year, delivering £2m in turnover in the first six months.

MD Kevin Hopper predicts the division, dubbed Trucking By Brian Yeardley, could see its turnover rise to £3m in 2016, based on current performance.

“It really has been explosive growth,” Hopper told Motortransport.co.uk. “Sometimes you hit a market hard and then it slows but I really don’t think this market will. I think we could go to £3m this year.”

He added: “The plan is to double turnover to £10m in the next five years, and it is achievable as the business is out there.”

The company has worked for artists including U2, Elton John and Pink Floyd. Other live event clients include from Red Bull, comedians Jimmy Carr and the British War Museum.

Hopper said Brian Yeadley chose the live events market because of its growth and its fit with the company’s existing business.

“We needed something to take us to the next level and looked for a niche market. We decided the live event logistics business was a good fit for our business model because we were already had the skills, and since we are already used to working around the clock to tight booking and delivery times across Europe.”

This includes a recent order for high security box trailers from Schmitz Cargobull. The order sees the fleet expand to 26 low ride, high security box trailers, five armour sided mega trailers, two 18 tonners, a 26 tonner and an urban trailer.

Hopper said the investment has paid off with much of the work coming “word of mouth” from clients impressed by the division’s professionalism.

“We’ve reinvented the wheel. Our technology and the standard of our equipment are higher than generally seen in the sector. Our trailers are state of the art and none of our kit is more than 18 months old. We’ve brought the same standards of quality and reliability to the sector that we deliver in our cargo business.”
