Knights of Old has fitted eight new MAN TGLs with additional nearside windows to improve drivers’ vision on the road. The windows, which help drivers see cyclists coming up the left side of the vehicle, cost £1,200 per vehicle to fit. The new vehicles, which will operate in London, provide drivers with an internal warning if a cyclist is close to the vehicle, and are equipped with audible left-turn equipment. The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has thrown its weight behind the recent EU vote to allow truck manufacturers to exceed current maximum weight and dimensions limits. IOSH described the vote in favour as “a major step in the right direction to reduce deaths and major injuries on the road”.
