Pallet-Track has boosted its membership with the addition of Kent-based Young Brothers Transport.
The network said the firm is the first of five new members set to join the Wolverhampton-based pallet network.
A spokeswoman told Motortransport.co.uk, “this is our first new member this year and there are another four new members that will be joining Pallet-Track once they have served their notice with other pallet networks”.
She added that Young Brothers, which will serve the CT postcodes in the Canterbury area, was not replacing another member.
The addition of Young Brothers brings the total number of members in the Pallet-Track network to 81. This is the firm’s first experience of being in a pallet network, since it was established in 1968.
Jeff Young at Young Brothers, said: “We’d spoken to a number of networks over the course of 2015 but felt that Pallet-Track would be the ideal fit. We’re looking to increase the volumes of pallets we transport while still remaining profitable and Pallet-Track’s reputation for having never lost a pallet really appealed to us.”
He added: “We’re also confident that our existing customers would receive the same level of great service that they’ve come to expect from Young Brothers, and that potential customers would be impressed by the network’s national reach.”
As well as its 267,000ft² central hub in Wolverhampton, Pallet-Track has two regional hubs in Belshill in Scotland and Welwyn Garden City. It is continuing its hunt for suitable premises for a northern hub.
