Stobart Group has completed a sale and leaseback of its DC at Carlisle Airport for £16.9m. The group has owned the airport since 2009, and its in-house engineering team Stobart Rail completed the build on the DC last September. The 96,012m² site was bought by real estate investor Gramercy Europe, which has signed a 20 year lease with Eddie Stobart Logistics. The promise of a solid first half in its financial year did little to improve investor confidence in Stobart Group – because investors were already ahead of the curve. On 17 April it was trading at a year low of 76.5pence per share. Today its at its year high of 109.5p – proving that investors have faith in the direction Andrew Tinkler is taking the company.
Stobart Group is to use Carlisle-based SP Training to run an apprenticeship scheme and provide drivers for Stobart Energy – formerly Stobart Biomass.
