CM Downton saw good levels of growth across the business in its last financial year, with both turnover and pre-tax profit up nearly 9%.

For the year ended 30 June 2015, the Gloucester-based operator had turnover of £113.5m, up 7.7% on the previous year.

The group's pre-tax profit rose 8.8% to £5.1m (2014: 4.7m).

Downton MD Andy Downton said the growth was “very much within [the group’s] expectations”.

He told Motortransport.co.uk: “We are never complacent but hope that our service culture, family values and strong balance sheet should always help differentiate our services.”

Downton added that the company had seen a “high level of enquiries and tenders for 2016”.

“Our strategy is always to continue to grow our business, either through organic growth or acquisition, and we will always continue to try and win new business,” he added.
