Turners (Soham) has purchased Macintyre Transport, for an undisclosed sum. Suffolk-based Turners said it had been expanding its container division during the past five years, and the acquisition of Macintyre was an excellent opportunity to continue its growth in the market. Turnover at Macintyre Transport in the year to 30 April 2014 was up 11% to £24.3m (2013: £21.9m). DHL Express has revealed that it intends to sell its same-day domestic business to technology distributor Rico Logistics later this month, as it continues to focus on the international express market.
A 55% rise in turnover at Norbert Dentressangle’s UK group company Norbert Dentressangle Logistics was achieved last year as a result of cost reductions, new business and the first full year’s effect of the acquisition of TDG in October 2011.
Roadways Container Logistics has returned to profit despite a fall in turnover and a warning that rates in the market remain depressed. For the year ended 31 December 2011, Roadways achieved a pre-tax profit of £319,000, compared with a pre-tax loss of £697,000 in the previous year.
