3) Boris Johnson MP

Title: Mayor of London; MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip

On 5 May 2016, Johnson will find himself without one of his jobs when Londoners go to the polls and elect a new Mayor.

During his two four-year terms running the capital Johnson has effectively defined urban logistics. He was an early advocate for urban cycling, hence what shall ever be referred to as the Boris Bike. Since then he’s fought vigorously for cycling safety; which has meant an increased focus on the non-compliant; which has resulted in schemes such as Fors , CLOCS and the Safer Lorry Scheme. Subsequently these schemes have become defacto national standards for safe operation in urban areas, particularly in the construction sector.

All it took was for Johnson to mention retrofitting passenger door windows (without any legal precedent) to spook bodybuilders and operators alike. Johnson has set the template for urban logistics, and it would come as no surprise if the likes of the Northern Powerhouse and beyond followed the precedent.
