DHL Supply Chain is set to create over 100 transport and warehousing jobs after extending its contract with bathroom retailer Bathstore for another five years.

DHL saw off rivals for the £37.5m deal by offering greater efficiencies and additional services including a two-man home delivery solution.

The logistics firm will run a national and dedicated operation from a base in Daventry, supported by a further nine regional bases. It will make 200,000 deliveries a year to 168 stores and to consumers nationwide.

DHL will also offer consolidated deliveries with the aim of increasing efficiency, reducing costs and maximizing resources.

Tim Slater, transport MD at DHL Supply Chain, welcomed the contract extension, adding: “Building on our experience in the retail and transport sectors we are looking forward to offering Bathstore innovative logistics solutions and providing an outstanding service to consumers during home deliveries.”

Gary Favell, Bathstore’s chief executive, said: “Creating dream bathrooms for people is what we do, and part of that service is ensuring customers receive their products swiftly at a time that works for them. The innovative and agile solutions provided by DHL will improve efficiencies across our business.”
