The threat of further industrial action by drivers and warehouse staff at white goods manufacturer Indesit has receded after conciliation talks held at Acas last week led to a revised pay offer.
Union Unite told MT it was content with the proposal, which was thrashed out after eight hours of talks at the conciliation and arbitration provider on 29 September.
Details of the offer had not been made public as MT went to press, but Unite regional officer Mark Plumb said it was “a position our representatives will be recommending to their members”.
The move should end a long-running dispute over pay and conditions involving more than 200 staff across 12 Indesit depots, which saw the union stage three separate strikes and a prolonged work-to-rule period during September.
The latest offer is expected to be ratified in a fresh ballot taking place in the next couple of weeks, said Plumb. “Hopefully, things will return to normal and we will all concentrate on the 2016 pay rise very shortly,” he added.
Indesit UK, whose Hotpoint Logistics team won the Training Award and the Operational & Compliance Excellence Award at this year’s Motor Transport Awards, said: "At the conciliation meeting, held with Acas on 29 September 2015, Unite the Union and Indesit agreed a recommended proposal to be put to the bargaining group. Full details will be presented to the workers over the next week."
