Edge Transport’s new Deeside base is fully operational, following an official opening ceremony attended by former secretary of state Lord Barry Jones and RHA chief executive Richard Burnett.

The company relocated from Llay, Wrexham to Deeside in May of this year. The new 6.2 acre site houses a warehouse, which is already operating at 95% capacity, a transhipment area, an office block and “extensive” trailer parking.

The family-run company also has received planning permission to build a second warehouse.

MD Jonathan Edge said: “In moving to Deeside we made a conscious decision to work with local suppliers and like-minded businesses. The results speak for themselves. The new site will allow us to satisfy the needs of our customers and our staff as well as helping to attract new business.”

At the opening ceremony on 14 September, Lord Jones said: “I have seen that Edge’s commitment to family values and high quality service has already seen them grow significantly. This new site will enable them to meet the demand for their warehouse and distribution services, also allowing them to expand further in future.

“Along with sponsoring one of the Flintshire Business Awards this year, they have demonstrated that they are already making a fine contribution to the regional economy and I am sure that will continue to do so for many years to come.”
