Suckling Transport said business had been “encouraging” last year, with profit and turnover up 49% and 43% respectively.
Following a relocation of its head office in May 2014 after a change of ownership the previous year, the Laindon, Essex-based haulage contractor made sales of £19.4m during the year to 31 December 2013 and a pre-tax profit of £1.2m.
In the previous year - a nine-month reporting period - turnover was £13.6m with pre-tax profit of £807,392.
In its latest report lodged at Companies House, the company said the move has given it “the potential for further growth, whilst also retaining all our existing staff and expertise".
“Business activity has been encouraging in 2014,” it added. “During the year we continued to broaden our short term [and] spot hire customer base with a number of new customers.”
However, it said that the sector in which it operates - petroleum tanker haulage services - remained “very competitive”.
“Continued capital investment in our fleet and investment in our workforce and IT solutions will help ensure we continue to meet our customers’ needs and are able to respond quickly to opportunities in the market,” the directors said.
Financial director Alan Dodson was not available for comment as the article was published.
Suckling Transport was bought in 2013 by Italian fuel transport firm Silvio Bertani Group for an undisclosed sum.
