DHL has signed a new three year logistics partnership with motorbike racing championship MotoGP.

This latest partnership deal will see DHL transport 80 bikes and 350 tons of equipment approximately 90,000km, every season, for the teams and the championship organisers.

DHL will also support the logistics needs of MotoGP’s sister championships Moto2 and Moto3.

Ken Allen, CEO, DHL Express said the new partnership makes DHL the provider of choice for the motorsports and automotive sectors. He added: “We are very excited about having the opportunity to get behind the handlebars of the championship’s logistics operation and to offer high quality international shipping services to MotoGP.

“As with the other motor racing championships in our world-class partnership portfolio, MotoGP will also give us an opportunity both to engage with an incredibly passionate global fan base and to create even more high octane experiences for our own customers, employees and partners.”

Pau Serracanta, commercial area MD at MotoGP organiser Dorna, said: “DHL will enjoy outstanding visibility at circuits, events and via the many broadcasting platforms MotoGP employs, plus they will benefit from being able to organise various activities for guests at MotoGP events.

“Dorna will benefit from a logistics service that spans the globe, which will allow us to maintain our values of speed and efficiency on which the championship has been built.”

Alongside the logistics activities, the partnership will also include extensive marketing opportunities. Together with customer hospitality and logo usage rights for customer marketing initiatives, DHL will also benefit from track-side advertising at MotoGP races providing exposure to live television audiences in 207 countries.

The 2015 MotoGP season features eighteen races in fourteen countries spanning four continents.

This latest deal adds to DHL’s over 30 years of motorsports logistics experience. The company partners with a number of motor racing championships and teams, including Formula 1, Formula E, WTCC, WEC, Andretti Autosport, Audi_ABT and Kalitta Motorsports.
